Below you’ll find the future course programme exactly as it rolled out of the imagination. Over time, it will no doubt be adapted to reality.

Summer Courses

During the Uitdeur course, you’ll learn (better) sport climbing, multipitching, mountaineering or trad climbing, with a focus on technical and mental autonomy. When you leave, we hope you shine as a lead climber, dynamic fuse, problem solver in vertical (technical, logistical or mental) challenges and above all, of course, as a great lover of climbing.

The Appel course offers mental guidance for technically autonomous climbers who struggle to climb (far enough) above the final bolt or protection, regularly block in routes or would simply like to benefit more from the sport of climbing. If required, this course also focuses on climbing technique and tactics.

The Joker course is like an Appel course with even more emphasis on the mental and personal aspect of mountain sports. We identify how you function as an outdoor athlete, figure out together how you would like to function as an outdoor athlete, and make a solid plan that we focus on throughout the week. So that you leave with a head full of tools to be your own Joker in the mountains (and normal life): the one you fully trust at all times.

The Aarde Course does not really differ from the Outdoor Course, except for the fact that during the course we do everything we can to be as respectful of the mountains and nature as possible. Yes, of course, we always do that, but now really everything. That means transport by bike or on foot, cooking and eating locally and ethically, producing as little waste as possible, borrowing climbing gear, etc. And in the meantime? We learn and exchange on various topics related to the future of mountains and mountaineering.

The Rivier course is that course where all beautiful things come together. For each course, there is a theme that is developed throughout the week. There will be climbing as well as a focus on technical and mental autonomy, but part of the time will be used to celebrate the magic of the mountains (that crazy, relatable, fantastic thing they do to us) and turn it into creativity, discovery and mutual connection. Think music, dance, creativity, theatre, writing and play. That may sound very nerdy and it certainly will be.

Winter courses

In winter, we like to take you ice climbing, ski touring and off-piste skiing. Courses are offered through different entry levels and, just like in summer, the emphasis will be on technical and mental autonomy.

The Off-piste course focuses on preparing skiers for ski touring. So: learning to ski through all kinds of snow, on lighter equipment. Possibly also important here is developing self-confidence and learning to dare to take on the (steep) challenge.

The Skitour course also involves the most beautiful silent white winter mountains. A little trip along ascents on skins, downhill runs and evenings at the hut. But you will also learn: how to get from A to B safely in piles of snow and, if necessary, how to improve your skiing technique.

Winter programme challenge: how do you move through the mountains in winter without compromising them? Transport and equipment, ski stations, how do you take responsibility as a winter sportsman and small out door business? To answer!

Op pad met de Uitdeur Aardappel

People who love the mountains and, moreover, have access to them are lucky people. The mountains themselves have super powers: up there, something inside us changes, because they are so big and make us so small, in the middle of nature, as if we ourselves become a river, and an ibex, and a moraine. Moreover, mountaineering teaches us a lot about how we function ourselves, how strong our bodies and minds can be. We learn to trust, to lead, to persevere, to know our own fears and to deal with them.

Thus, in our opinion, mountains and mountaineering have great potential to help people. Not just climbers, skiers and mountaineers. The Outdoor Earth Apple would like to go out and work with people who do not (yet) have access to the mountains.

On what? Self-confidence, trusting others, self-esteem, dealing with challenging situations, organisation, discipline, cooperation and so on.

How? By creating an association, finding funding etc., because it is not supposed to be for the lucky ones we already encounter at altitude.

When? As soon as the business is on its feet and the psychology degree has also been obtained.
